KS2 Maths App/Website for able child

I want to look at a new maths app or website for my son, currently in Yr4 but very able with maths. He's a bit fed up of Times Table Rockstars, so would like to give him access to something else. More for fun/challenge rather than to build his confidence.

Happy to pay if it's a reasonable amount.

Any ideas?

This is good and has a wide variety of activities to try.

It's expensive but Smartick is pretty good because it accelerates at the rate of your child.
Or if really gifted Beast Academy (also expensive) supposed to be very good, though more comics/exercises than an 'app'.

I heard Simon Singh talking about this on the radio and it sounds really interesting, but haven't got round to getting my DC to try it yet! There are weekly challenges and also live interactive sessions: parallel.org.uk/

Prodigy - my more able Y6s love it. It’s American, but apart from the annoying ‘Math’, it doesn’t seem to matter!

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll take a look at all of these. @Maximo2 I saw someone refer to it as similar to Pokemon with maths boss battles, so he would love that!

Has anyone had success in using Khan Academy for KS2?

That’s a good description!

Hendon Prep Reviews

Hi Everyone!

I am looking for some reviews on hendon prep. My daughter will start school next year, so i would love to connect with some parents who can provide feedback on the school. We have also registered at Goodwyn and St Martins. Our preference is all around development, with a higher focus on acads.

Thank you!

@MumInmyelement this thread is about maths apps in KS2. I would suggest you start a new thread, mentioning Hendon Prep in the title.

@yoshiblue

Maths Playground
Nrich

Someone mentioned Parallel but I think your DS might be a little young for that.

The Countdown numbers game is fun too - there are a few similar websites that do this.

MumInmyelement · 11/11/2022 11:00

@LetItGoToRuin i know! So silly of me. This is my first post on mumsnet and i was struggling with it. I am also unable to delete this wrong post. I created a new thread after i posted this incorrectly. 😊

Dragonbox app stretches sideways, and nrich is also good if you can spend time with your child to discuss it. I wouldn’t do Khan Academy unless you’re prepping for entrance exams, as you need something that won’t cover the curriculum and make lessons repetitive (or even more so) for him. If you can find a local maths club or maths circle, that’s the best thing, but they tend to be pricey and not available everywhere.

A bit late but my sons have enjoyed using an app for maths called Math with Monty. It's cute so not perfect for all but they like it.
