Any recommendations for learning to read, as a back-up in case there is more school (Year 1) disruption. I read to DS everyday and obviously he is learning in school. The school is not in the UK, so not in English, which makes me wonder how much to pursue English phonics (though he is fluent in English). We do some Step Into Reading and Letterland. I don't want to overload or stress DS. Also don't want to get in a position of having to catch up as DS is young in the year and so concentration can be an issue.
Is there a good online subscription course, for some stealth learning, to consistently chip away at literacy skills? He has got on well with Mathsfactor, as doing five to ten minutes most days, has generated a solid understanding of basic maths after a year. The methodology seems sound, unlike some online programmes which are only learning by rote. Is there anything similar for literacy?
Many thanks!
