7+ boys standard?

Hi all,

I can see the recent threads re 7+ experiences. My son isn’t trying for the likes of stp or wu but likewise I don’t really know the standards of what’s needed. Here’s a story my son did - obviously many(!) errors but tbh overall a v good attempt by his standards. Can anyone guide me? We’re not doing more than one do these a week in either English or maths so not prepared to do a daily schlep! Just wanted a general expectation of whether we should be hopeful or not! His maths is pretty good (much better than his English) so we shall cross fingers x

My DS is at WUS and we have friends at SPJ (the schools you cite).

Generally looks good in comparison and the inspiration appears to be there.

With creative writing there is a structure to progressing a story and as you've already done the hard part it is more fitting that creativity into that model (opening/intro, middle, conclusion).

After each session try to ask questions like where is this happening? What did the characters learn etc. So future stories cover those ideas.

Also note changes to some of the examining at 7+ in recent years.

Very many thanks. Tbh we're not going to spend ages more and I'm not a great teacher (to put it mildy ;-)) but that's really helpful, thankyou. My son is only doing one exam and we're waiting to hear the structure but I think we'll just go with what we've got and see what happens as it's most representative of him!

I hope your son is enjoying WUS!

Thanks again x
