Hello! I am planning on moving into Aberdeen City very soon with my 14 month old. I want to choose somewhere which is in the catchment for a great primary school. I have been looking at houses near Airyhall primary school, Ashley rd and Broomhill because I've hard mention that they are good from several people. We also like these areas in general when we have visited. Does anyone know which is these school is the best? Or if there is another which is highly recommended?

We have bee living an hour north of Aberdeen for a few years and I am originally from Australia so I don't have very much local knowledge! Any tips would be so appreciated! Thanks!

Try asking your question again in the Scotsnet topic - you might get more of a response.

I'm in Glasgow so can't help.

I'm in Aberdeen city centre and I would recommend Mile End & Ashley Road. Ashley Road is a Victorian school & Mile End is a new build (8 years ish old) - massive play ground & great facilities. Both really good schools and both feed into Aberdeen Grammar which is one of the top secondary schools.

Airyhall primary is also really good but feeds into Harlaw Academy which hasn't such a good reputation.

Good luck with your move!

Sorry - meant Hazlehead Academy not Harlaw but comment still applies

We are in the catchment for Ashley Rd. My daughter is still a baby but my friend’s kids go there and she is very happy with it. The key thing is that it is in the catchment for the Grammar School which is probably the best secondary school in the city. broomhill is apparently a good primary but is in the catchment for Harlaw which does not have such a good reputation. Of course who knows what the position will be in 12 years time!

Hello! I am currently looking for a house around Aberdeen City at the same time trying to find a good primary school for my daughter (6yo). I would like to know about Ferryhill Primary School, can someone give a review about this school? Thank you so much in advance.
