Oakwood Prep School, South Croydon.

Are there any parents with DC at Oakwood Prep in Croydon?

I know its a Catholic school and acts as a feeder for the Laurels and Cedars, I'm catholic ( RC rather than opus, and a lapsed one at that) partner is CofE, lapsed!

We like the look of the school but know no-one who sends their DC. We see their leavers destinations are local private and grammars (outside their senior boys and girls) which is what we want. The Whitgift schools being all through won't give us that choice at 11+.

I can't seem to find any info on MN. The only alternative seems to be Cumnor House , St Davids and Laleham, but they are all a bit far from where we are. We have a good chance of gaining a 'good' rated primary where we live, but compared to average prep prices in London, especially where we moved from north of the river, Oakwood fees seems so reasonable.

Any advice would be welcome!

It’s very nice, very small. Teachers are lovely. Main issue is they give nearly 100% bursaries to opus families (which tend to have lots of kids) and are subsidied by fee payers. So only 2/3rds if your fees actually go towards your child’s education / facilities. Moved location recently to join up with the secondaries so not a local option in the area anymore.
