Moving to Fox catchment area

Hi all,

i have a 3.5yo son and we are thinking of schools obviously. My wife is dead set on Fox primary school. We currently live in Fulham and I am keener on Fulham bilingual, either through the council or the french lycee (we are french). but that is another issue.

Knowing that we have to apply by mid Jan 23, when is the latest i have to move to the catchment area to be able to apply to Fox. Will there be any issue if we are new arrivals?

My Wife also telling me that it is almost impossible to get in the years after reception. but I have seen a post here from 2010 saying it is easier after reception. Anyone able to offer advice?

Personally I would rather wait a year to see if we can get a place in Fulham Bilingual and if not move next year to Notthing hill. (rents are also much higher there)

Thank you.

You will have to be actually living in the house that you own or rent when you apply. So by the deadline.

Have you reviewed the oversubscription criteria, especially category 5. They use random allocation within a geographical priority area.

are you saying that it will be very difficult to be accepted at FOX?

How about subsequent years?

One of my friends kids currently attends and she’s not very impressed with fox at all. It’s all hype that fox is amazing

My friends kids used to attend Fox as well and she said it is not amazing. A lot of hype. They ended up moving country and she was glad. My kids are at Fulham Bilingual and we are happy with the school. It will work well for you if you are French. But if both of you are French, make sure you work on the English with your DC. We notice kids who have both French parents, struggle with the English if they do not have outside support via nanny or head start at an English nursery. Same goes for kids coming from English only families. How far are you from the school? They switched from lottery to distance.

We live in fulham broadway, exactly 1.08 (straight line) from the school. It does seem a little be far. Those residential towers in Imperial wharf are closer :(

When your kids joined FB, was it by distance or random selection?
