Just at start of P6 and been met with horrifying news that apparently everyone else is super organised with tutors etc… anyone here facing whatever the replacement exam is next year and fancy a bit of info sharing and solidarity?

First DC to go through this, is super young for their age and of course wants to go to a very popular school with high entry scores. Aargh!

Any advice also welcomed!

Hi.

I was less organised last year as we had just moved to Northern Ireland and had never heard of the AQE.

My son did alot of practice at school, no tutors. He did really well. Try not to stress

I'll watch this with interest, I've a P4 here who is grand - we've already decided on either Inst or Methody.

My former P4 teacher will tutor him from the beginning of P6. That's just because it seems to be the done thing in NI. Seems like everyone gets a tutor irrespective of actual ability.

When I was doing my 11+ only the struggling children got tutors. 🤷🏽‍♀️
