Oxford Council Primary Admissions Hash Up

Hi All,

Has anyone experienced a massive delay with Oxford council processing primary school transfers/admissions? We applied for an in year in June and it still hasn't been allocated. Apparently, they decided to introduce a new system during the summer period and transfer all records over to it only for it to encounter problems and put everything on a delay.

The new year will now arrive and my daughters have no school places - and I think this will be the case for many others. Does anyone have any information or advice or experience they can share?

P.s. We are applying for schools inside Oxford as we have recently moved here.

Thanks!

Maybe there are no school places available in the area you’re living? Have you phoned them up?

No, definitely not that.

I have phoned up and they are now not speaking to anyone about September school places due to the system problem they have.

I could write a book about the incompetence of Oxfordshire's admissions team. Which school(s) are you looking at? Do you already have a school or are you moving into the area?

Ring the schools directly- staff will be trickling back in now and will know of there’s space. This must’ve taken the excitement out of moving. Sorry you’ve had this to contend with.

We moved to Oxford 4 months ago and got spaces allocated at the local school (except one of my children, who we then had to homeschool). We have now moved again but had all the arrangements/applications in place well before the end of last term. We were supposed to hear back in July but something's happened over the summer and they've ended up not processing anything as of yet. I think many people are in this situation.

Great idea. I will try this today.
