Moving house and moving schools, will my ds be ok?

Does anyone have any experience of moving areas with school aged children? We are relocating and ds 1 is in year 1. It looks like we will have to change schools twice as we are going to move to stay with my parents until we find somewhere permanent to live. Any tips on how to make the transition easier for my ds?

ime as primary teacher childrn are very, very adaptable - especially as young as your ds. he will make friends in no time. good luck.

we moved in the easter when ds was in reception. He's been fine. took him proabably til the end of the year to get his feet properly under the table. We went together for a few hours to the school and sat in the classroom and met/watched/talked with everyone, so come first day it wasn't to scary. If you can try and do the same. I found it helped ds and me!

Thanks Ja9.
Furball, I will speak to his new school and see if they'll let us do that.
I think I'm probably more worried about it than he is.

from my own experience as a dc and from having seen dd go through changing schools, I wouldn't expect it to be a problem for her at all. Just try to be relaxed and confident about it yourself, your attitude will transmit itself to her

I'll have to practice being laid back about it. Am so stressed about the whole move, am permanently on edge about the whole thing!
