Summer holidays & playdates

I have 2 children in Yr 3 and one in the school nursery - I've noticed a lot of the other mums around the area i live in meeting up and going for playdates... Im struggling as for both my kids I've only had 1/2 people reach out and suggest meeting for playdates. I've got myself so worked up and mum guilt (im working too) that i have spent about 30 mins sending a flurry of messages trying to organise playdates for both...

I always find even in term time im always reaching out and asking for playdates we hardly get asked... I am now feeling like i appear pretty desperate :(

Do many people do playdates over summer? Should i carry on asking for playdates even though most say that sounds good let me check when we are free - but then dont actually come back with dates?

I work FT too and DD is in holiday club for the majority of the summer. We had 1 week off all of us at the beginning and went away, then I have a week off for the last week.

As such play dates are minimal.

She was invited to a friends 1 day last week on the day she doesn't do holiday club and we then took that friend to a local outing we had planned for the Saturday.

I'll reach out to a couple of parents to see if they want me to take their kid to the park or trampolining or something in the last week but that's about all we'll realistically be able to manage.

Maybe more specific. Would Cassandra like to come over next week?
How about Tue at 10 or Thursday at 2?

I think summer can be tricky. Working parents tend to have the whole summer mapped out, so there it's not so simple to organise a 2 hours playdate.

I agree with PP who said suggest specific dates.

Playdates for us in the holidays have been mainly me meeting up with one of my friends, and the kids know each other and muck in. It's parents helping each other stay sane! We don't do much of the sort where you invite a friend round without parents. They are tricky to organise over the summer, people are away so much or already have planned each day's annual leave or childcare.

I don't think your kids are missing out like you worry they are.

YY to sending a specific invitation for 2-3 days where they can easily say a concrete yes or no. But generally I wouldn't worry about these too much in the holidays, just pick them up again when DC are back at school.
