Oxford house in Colchester

Hi! I'm thinking of sending my daughter to Oxford House in Colchester next year. Hoping for her to get into a grammar school.
Has anyone sent their children here? Smile
What are the teachers like? Is it purely academic or are there extracurricular after school?

Someone I know removed her DD from there a couple of years ago and sent her to a different independent school in Colchester, I think its different from other local indie schools in that it is a hot house for the Grammar and if that doesn't suit your child then that's tricky, my DD would have hated not doing as much sport / playing matches for instance but they probably have after school clubs. Worth visiting all the local schools - state and independent so you can compare, my kids go to a different independent school in colchester so I don't have any direct knowledge.

Thank you. Did your friend remove her DD as it was too much of a hot house? Just trying to figure out if it only suits very academically inclined children.
Will check out other independents too, have heard good things about Littlegarth.

Friend didn't say exactly why she removed her, I did read a thread (either here or on the 11+ forum) a while ago by someone who sent two children to OH and felt that the hot housing was a lot, you might be able to find it. When we looked at OH they only had 15? maybe 20 spaces for reception and most went to those in their own nursery so you might need to sign up early if you do want a space. Definitely worth visiting a LG open morning.

Thank you! I've arranged a visit and hopefully they can accommodate my daughter
