Hello, I need urgent advice, I am new to UK independent schools. DS has got an offer at Aldenham prep and Radlett Prep for reception. We have heard quite good things about both. We are leaning towards Aldenham only cuz it is well rounded school and Radlett is more academics focussed. Any Aldenham prep direct reviews would be appreciated.

If you are planning on staying in the U.K. then be aware that Aldenham is an “all through” which means they expect you to stay there until your child is 18. This can be either great or a bad thing.

Pros - no 11+ or 13+ stress

Cons - if you don’t feel it’s a good fit for your child as they get older then there’s no help preparing for 11+ or 13+ schools. You would most likely have to prep the verbal and non verbal reasoning elements yourself or with a tutor.

Radlett does have a reputation for being more academic but if your child has been offered a place then it’s likely it’s an environment they would be just fine in. I know children who attended both but more than five years ago so my information would be rather out of date.
