Primary settling in sessions

Just curious as to how many settling in sessions your primary school is offering for reception 2022 starters? DD's new school have been brilliant - we have had a parents induction morning, been invited to a music afternoon, sports day, school fete, forest school morning and 2 classroom settling in mornings.

2 of my NCT friends are sending their DDs to a different school, but haven't even had a parents meeting. The school are doing a 30 minute classroom taster in September, but no other events. Communication from the school has been appalling and they're regretting their choice.

Are there other schools out there that are not doing anything to support with reception induction? They're not on Mumsnet so I said I would ask on here for them.

We've had a parents evening and a 2 hour induction drop off for the children. My DD seemed happy with that (although she was more excited before as she told us she had dreamed her school would be like soft play). In September there is an induction week. 2 days of 1:1 parent teacher appointments, wednesday and Thursday, 2 hours selling, then Friday, whole morning plus lunch. Following week back, full time. I was expecting this and booked a week off work in September. I hadn't even considered it would be part time for longer.

One last week when DCs met teacher and played in the classrooms, and the parents has a talk from the Head. One in September for the DCs only, the day before school starts properly.

That sounds like loads to me and I’d have struggled to get DS to that stuff as I work full time.

Weve had a parents info afternoon, DS had a trip to look around with the kids from his nursery who are going there, we all went to the school summer fair, and in September he’s got a 1-1 meeting with his teacher. When he actually starts it’s just mornings for the first few days, then 2 days of going home after lunch, then full days. Seems about right to me.
