Hello, I am having a look around for some advice if anybody has any please.
I am considering applying for a TA post in a local KS1 school.
It's where I've always wanted to work and I'm quite nervous to apply, the jobs there are like gold dust.
The job is perfect, I'm only hesitating because the timing could do with being a year from now but life does what it wants without including my schedule!
I am looking for personal statement tips or interview/ activity advice.
Anything at all would be gratefully received.
Many Thanks

Top priority is safeguarding. That will definitely be a focus.

Then phonics I suppose. What training you've had if any and your ability to lead a group.

Also, all the usual stuff. Working as a team etc.

Is it a one to one TA or a class TA?

Hello! Good luck with your application! Make sure to include all your previous experience that will be relevant to the job, particularly any experience in schools specifically. Good safeguarding knowledge and practice are key to the role, as is knowledge (and preferably experience) of teaching phonics to KS1. Time management, problem solving and multitasking are all skills they will be looking out for too. Any extra training you've done around safeguarding / teaching and learning / emotional development / early years education should be included in your application too.

My biggest bit of advice is to just be yourself. If you're really passionate about the job that will come across in interview 😊

My interview task was to read a story to a small group of children in an exciting and engaging way.

Interview questions included...
What activity would you follow on the story with?
Why do you want to be a TA?
An example of when you have worked as a team?
A few scenarios, what would you do if there was a disruptive child, safeguarding

Good luck!
