Hi. We are moving from the states to Wandsworth and have accepted a full-time nursery position at Beatrix Potter. From what I can tell online it's a lovely school and historically children have performed very well there and from parent reviews appear to be happy. However based on testing (which I understand isn't everything) it seems like they had a huge drop off in results in 2019. That is a bit concerning. Because we are looking to have to re-apply to schools for Reception, was wondering if anyone had any insight or idea as to what's happening there.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the test results. It could be that that particular class had a higher than usual number of children with additional needs, who didn’t reach expected standards. The progress measures (rather than attainment) are a more important measure as they show how much progress children make between Y2 and Y6.

it is a well-performing school, with many pupils moving to independent/Grammars for secondary, which is more due to external tuition- though that’s a different matter. A single year’s result is not the true reflection of the school. Good luck on the move.
