Iron on/stick on name labels

I reckoned this might be the place to ask for recommendations for clothing labels.

Not for school things but for my mum's clothes, because she'll be moving in to a care home quite soon I think.

Can anyone please suggest some good ones? Not sew-on ones though please.

Thanks in advance.

Mynametags are brilliant.

Soubriquet · 22/06/2022 17:36

petit-fernanad

I used to use mynametags but they kept coming off.

Petit fernand are still going strong.

Sirzy · 22/06/2022 17:38

I have used www.nametags4u.co.uk since Ds was in reception he is now in year 7 and they are still working perfectly! I get the supatags

CactusFlowers · 22/06/2022 17:40

You can also get ink stamps which are useful for things like underwear. They do need re stamping eventually though.

Yodaisawally · 22/06/2022 17:41

Stikkins

Or a sharpie

BettyStogs · 22/06/2022 17:41

I got some Stikins for a MN product test a couple of years ago and have been using them ever since, they are great not just for clothes but shoes, water bottles etc

CarrieMoonbeams · 22/06/2022 19:24

Thanks so much everyone for your replies, that's really helpful.

I'll have a look at them all and get some ordered tonight.

Another vote for stikins. 2 dcs with a total of 2.5 years in preschool and 3 years in primary between them and I've only ever had one of the stickers come off.

BlueGlassOfDoom · 22/06/2022 19:38

I used these - the ones for glasses and shoes were particularly useful: www.wovenlabelsuk.com/care-home-labels/

Also it is good to use simple, clear font if there’s any sight/cognitive issues so that your Mum can recognise her own things easily (and for busy staff!).

I also just printed out some computer labels for things like books/CDs etc that my Dad took in with him.

Hope the move goes well for both of you!

PipsM · 22/06/2022 19:43

I really rate stamptastic- they are stamps which last for at least 50 washes. We bought one for my aunt, was a lot easier than sewing names in!

Get a laundry marker pen, or sew on name tags.
As an ex Brownie Leader dealing with bags of clothes left behind after sleepovers I can tell you everything else fades washes off or just comes off in time.

catwomando · 22/06/2022 19:52

Use stamptastic instead.

Brilliant product.

Ask Stacey Solomon !!

Fizbosshoes · 22/06/2022 20:00

Sorry to hear about your mum OP Flowers

I also recommend stikins , the last time I ordered them they came the next day. They last for years too.

adhdpunchbag · 22/06/2022 20:03

Stickins.

I have some with my sons name on and my mobile number that I use on stuff I might leave somewhere.....

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/06/2022 20:06

I’ve never come across an iron on name tape that does come off when tumbled dried or dried on a radiator, but ninja w never used the petit ferand ones which are much heralded on here.

QueenOfWeeds · 22/06/2022 20:08

I use Easy2Name - never used them for clothes but they have survived regular dishwasher trips - over a year and no fading. I think they possibly do a package for care home name labels?

teraculum29 · 22/06/2022 20:20

I work in nursing home in the laundry.

Most labels will come off in the wash or in the tumble dryer eventually. Some quicker some a bit later.

Sew on tend to last longer.
and best practice - label 2 ways label and black permament marker or white acrylic pen on dark color clothes.

Please name every single clothing item your mum own - bras, socks, thigths, vests, knickers, hankies, scarfs, tops, etc.

eurochick · 22/06/2022 20:52

Stickins are amazing. The only thing they have not stuck to is stretchy ribbed socks. Even on water bottles that go through the dishwasher daily they have lasted years.

HonorHiding · 23/06/2022 12:30

Another vote for Stikins. They arrive very quickly and stick brilliantly to everything except stretchy socks, as PP says.

SBAM · 23/06/2022 12:42

I used the Pilot Tec laundry marker for my daughters school uniform, everything’s been washed weekly for 9m now and while it’s faded a little it’s still perfectly readable.
Also, Tinyme labels for water bottles etc are great, dishwasher proof and you can get nice colours so your mum could spot her things quickly.

namechange496829 · 23/06/2022 12:42

I also say stamptastic. So much easier!

CarrieMoonbeams · 23/06/2022 14:16

Oh, I'd typed a reply last night but obviously didn't post it!

Thanks again for taking the time to reply, and for the good wishes too.

I ordered a selection of things last night -some Stikins, some Petit Fernand and a stamptastic kit which also comes with a laundry pen. I'm quite looking forward to having a go!
