Farnham or Guildford

I will love to get any recommendations and advice.I intend to move to surrey with my family from scotland and we have narrowed it down to farnham and guildford.We have a 5 year old going to Primary school and schools are a big consideration.We really do love the city feel of guildford and we came to visit but havent visited farnham so not sure what its like there.

The schools in Farnham are excellent, make sure there is a space for your dc.

Farnham is lovely. I don't like Guildford very much, but haven't spent a lot of time there (because I don't like it very much)

Farnham schools are good.

Farnham has some excellent schools but the ones that feed Weydon (and you need to be a named feeder school generally to get in) are generally very full. However Heath End is good and if you are catholic then you also have the option of All Hallows.
I do like Guildford but the traffic is a nightmare and it’s very expensive. The secondary schools are a bit patchy - County and George Abbot or St Peters if you are catholic are great but the others tend to be up and down in the past.
I’d also have a look at Godalming, and then continue out past Farnham to Alton.

Could I ask you where have you settled? Do you like it? Did you get a place in a desired school for your kid?
