uniform out of stock already!!

Yesterday afternoon we received the welcome pack from the school DC1 will be starting Reception at in September. Looking at the uniform list most of the uniform is pretty standard but there are 3 logo'd items to be bought from an online supplier.

Logged in to the uniform supplier first thing this morning and all the small sizes are out of stock ffs. No indication of when/if stock will replenish. Obviously will contact the supplier but is this normal? Do they they tend to restock in a few weeks or are we screwed already??

If it’s anything like ours that’ll be it! You’d think they’d learn to stock more sizes after having the same problem year after year. If you’re lucky they’ll be some more before school starts.

Do the school not have a second hand stock?

They haven't said so. There's a welcome meeting in a couple of weeks - I'll be asking this then!

Are you sure this is really 'out of stock already' as opposed to 'not yet in stock'?

I have a friend who worked for a logo stitching company and their busiest time was June/July/August.

See if your school is on a website called my clothing. They get supermarket uniform but embroider the badges on.

Likely they've not got the stock in for September yet.

If you've just received the welcome pack yesterday, I wouldn't worry too much.
I don't think many people are ordering straight away, and older children won't be ordering smalls sizes during the year, so they are just waiting for order to come in, ready for next Sept?

I think they'll be getting more stick. It's very early to be buying uniform for September for reception. The kids will have grown out of it before they start!

You should check to see if they really need to be logo'ed and whether they are available elsewhere (ask a parent already at the school or post on local Facebook page if you don't know one). Plus check that they are items your DC will actually use (my DS wore his jumper about twice, for example).

Failing that, second hand uniform shop or local selling pages are good sources of uniform in good condition.

Ours is always low stock until the end of July as most existing parents will just make do til the end of the year and it is pretty early to be buying for September.

If stock issues over summer supermarkets do great standard uniform- my dd wears a pinafore dress so never need to buy logoed polo shirts (2.50 for two rather than 8quid each!)

It’s a bit early yet. They won’t have restocked for next fall.
