Have reception people heard from primary schools?

I am getting a bit worried, I haven't heard anything at all from dd's primary school regarding reception starting in September, is this normal?

I've had to keep checking and rechecking that I accepted her place! Wondering whether to email and ask if I've been missed off any communication or will my card be marked as 'that parent' before she's even started!

We got the welcome pack at the end of April and have already been to a welcome event. Definitely worth giving them a quick call.

I too got a welcome letter in April, stating that in the next few weeks I will receive more information about starting days, admissions paperwork etc. Have not had anything since then through!

DS is starting at a school nursery where DD goes to school. I've not heard anything yet, including if he has an AM or PM place. I expected to by half term. I sent an email earlier this week asking when we would hear. I wouldn't worry you haven't heard anything but there's no harm in a quick email or phone call just to check.

Yes we have, a fair bit

Maybe just check

We had a note in a newsletter that only goes to current parents at the end of May that there would be a meeting in mid-June with more info to follow. I chased by phone on Tuesday and was told we'd be sent more info in the next couple of weeks so I pointed out the line in the newsletter. We then got sent the info pack yesterday with the meeting actually taking place a day earlier than was stated in the newsletter. I always said if I hadn't heard by half term I'd chase when they went back.

Oh gosh. Getting worried now. Sent an email but got an out of office reply stating they were closed today (jubilee bank hol) and inset on Monday. Doesn't bode well...

We received a welcome pack the day after allocations day. We have had the parents induction and have been given our class teacher allocation (2 form entry). We have a singing afternoon at the school on Monday, classroom settling in sessions, forest school session booked and a multitude of invites to other events going on at the school. I have been very impressed.

From my NCT group there are a couple who have not heard (same school) if that helps. Try checking your junk inbox or call the school and make sure they have the right contact details for you.

@babycornfortea
Do you know any other parents? Ask them? We didn’t hear anything until around now and visits were arranged for July. Staff from school came to see DCs in Nursery though.

APurpleSquirrel · 11/06/2022 09:14

We got our pack last week; I know it was delayed due to some appeals etc & an assessment visit (other DC already at the school so asked the teacher).
A few friends starting at another school haven't had anything either.

Heckythump1 · 11/06/2022 09:34

We didn't hear anything until after the half-term when my DD started year before last.

Also, look on their web site. Is there a diary? Details of policies (required by law), details about lunch, uniform, etc? Most schools have this.

grumpypug · 11/06/2022 20:19

At my school (I'm an early years teacher) we have a high mobility rate and there's usually quite a lot of change to the list of children who have been allocated places so we have only just sent out the paperwork. It would do no harm to give them a ring and ask if you should have received something. The summer term is really busy in primary schools, due to the new intake and leavers but you don't want to miss anything either!

GummyNut · 21/06/2022 09:29

We just got our welcome pack on Saturday - orientation event in the first week of July. I would call the school and see if they had sent anything yet, and if not, perhaps ask for some tentative dates so that you can block them.
