We have to move at the end of July due to landlady selling house.

we will be staying in the same sort of area but a completely different school area. It would potentially be about 2-3 miles away.

I don’t drive so I was looking at school transport but I don’t know if I have to make attempts to get them into the nearest school to the house im moving too first, or if they will provide it because they are settled in school and have a place

If you are more than 2 miles from school by the shortest safe walking route and the LA is unable to offer a place at a nearer school, they must provide free transport for your child. Note that this is only for your child - they do not have to provide transport for you to accompany your child to and from school.

I knew I wouldn’t be going with them but thank you

I see they will make an attempt to get them into a closer school which is fine too.

I just wanted to know that.

If they can’t, they definitely can’t walk to their currant school.

Have a look here: www.gov.uk/help-home-school-transport

I think that if you don't apply for a place at a nearby/catchment school then it'll be up to you to get your child ti their existing school.

Thank you.

I guess we will have to see where we move to before I can contemplate whether they need to move schools
