Hi, the PTA were selling skull patches with union jacks for the jubilee, am I alone in thinking not really on message? For jubilee or primary really.

Perhaps I’m just old enough to remember skinheads and bike gang patches, but seems a bit tone deaf.

A bit odd I agree. However it’s also a bit Alexander McQueen. If your DC is getting a great education at the school, I would just assume the parents association or an admin assistant thought DC would be amused by it. Who cares about what skinheads or bikers wore 50/60 years ago? Skulls have been brought back to life since then. Damien Hirst and AMcQ have led the way. Plus numerous sports team logos. Did you want a delicate porcelain tea cup with a picture of the Queen on it?

SherlockTomes · 27/05/2022 09:38

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/05/2022 09:38

It’s just plain ugly, apart from anything else.

Antarcticant · 27/05/2022 09:39

If I saw that out of context I would assume it was some far right thing.

ahunf · 27/05/2022 09:42

Hand held flags would've better.

I assume they bought something with the flag on and didn't pay much interest to the face expression?

PeekAtYou · 27/05/2022 09:43

Considering the Queen's health it is possibly a little insensitive but I have no problem with the skull- primary school kids dress up for Halloween in scarier stuff.

Yes, it sure is offensive from the aesthetic perspective. Definitely not reminding me of Alexander McQueen!

avamiah · 27/05/2022 09:56

Omg I love it and yes it is very McQueen and I would love one 💀

If there are any left I’d be happy to buy one.

Arnaque · 27/05/2022 10:03

Gosh yes, looks like something biker gangs would have on their jackets.

SantanaBinLorry · 27/05/2022 10:18

That's hilarious 😆
I'd buy one but can see why some would get their knickers in a twist.

Idk, it’s not the ‘scariness’, that bothers me - I think it’s the not thinking- it’s a predominantly white area, I don’t know what a minority family would make of it. I can just see it splashed across the local paper with frowny faces, wouldn’t do the school reputation any good. It does look like something from the BNP era. Or maybe I’m just old. Or woke. Or have no patriotism. I’m just not comfortable with it, somehow

I am also "old"
I would not immediately think of skinheads or the BNP on seeing that. I don't much like it, but wouldn't have a problem with it.

It does look a bit EDL-y.

TizerorFizz · 27/05/2022 12:18

I’m in my 60s. It’s a bit punk if anything. Not skinhead!!! But it’s a tiny thing. We don’t hand to be uptight and it is not offensive to anyone. Just a bit off beat.

TizerorFizz · 27/05/2022 12:22

Here is the AMcQ scarf. Current design.

Ooh my 6 year old would have much preferred this to the Queens Jubilee book mark they were giving out at her school :p
