My son is off to reception this September and I keep hearing this'll be the making of him in terms of development. He talks and reads but communication is lacking so u can't really have a convo with him Altho as I said he can read familiar books etc and helps fill in the gaps etc

EHCP is all ready for school

Will going to school be the push he needs which is what I keep hearing? Any success stories?

That's brilliant that you have an EHCP.

School may well be great for him but it sounds like platitudes from people who don't have a clue. What is great is that he has a supportive mum who is aware and on the case. Good luck to both of you.

My son had no additional needs but was painfully shy and clingy.

A school nursery did absolute wonders for him and he’s continued to thrive in reception.

It’s totally down to the school and child though, each case will be unique.

Good luck, it’s definitely not something to stress over - what will be will be!

In my ds's case, going to nursery/school did wonders. Nursery teacher requested that he attended 5 days a week, 6 hours a day. So he was already max exposure and by reception he was becoming a different child. Yr1 teacher said she couldn't believe he had problems before.
