Reigate St Mary's or Chinthurst school

Hello all,

We need to decide between these schools. we like both but wondered if anyone here had any recent experiences with either or any thoughts positive or negative!

Chinthurst seems smaller more family like but RSM seem to have more facilities, better academics?

Our Son would be joining year 2 in Sep. He is good all rounder I would say.

We like Chinthurst and chose it because it felt smaller and less pressured. The teaching staff are good and work hard to build relationships with the children. RSM share facilities with Reigate Grammar I believe. Parents seem a good mix and there is a thriving social scene (at least in our year). Saturday Sports is a good addition to the week, the parents association provides catering and the kids run around for an hour or so whilst parents catch up.
I haven't experienced RSM other than an open day so cannot make a good comparison.

Thank you that's very helpful. I liked the sound of the Saturday sports.

Whereabouts do you live? Traffic in Reigate is difficult at peak hours and the M25 junction into Reigate Hill gets congested. Both feed into RGS at year 7 and if you have other destinations in mind you may need to consider entrance test prep.

Thanks for your reply...we are in Kingswood. So Chinthurst would be a bit closer. Yes the traffic is horrible isn't it! We would be aiming for RGS but if our son doesn't get an early offer we would have to look at entrance exams for other schools.

There is an early morning club (free from 8am) and then after school clubs or after care, which are very good. That means you can miss some of the traffic.
If you do go for Chinthurst then be aware that they are changing some of the uniform so don't buy it too early. I think that Stephenson's will stock the new stuff in the summer but it is things like the house t shirts that are changing.

Thanks @rabel17 that's good to know as it would be good for me to be able to drop early to miss some traffic
