Independent schools in Brighton and Hove

Hi everyone, I am looking for a good school for my 6 years old DS, do you guys have any feedbacks among St Christopher's prep, Sompting Abbotts prep, Deepdene prep and Windlesham prep? Many thanks!

Deepdene has shut down. I grew up in Brighton but don’t know enough about the prep schools (sorry). I know that Deepdene closed at very short notice and lots of people are upset about it.

OGM! CruCru, thank you for your message. Can't believe that Deepdene has shut down. I recently browsed their website and it looks like everything is fine. For pupils who are studying there, it's really a hard situation to accept.

That's really sad. I was amazed to discover recently that Windlesham was still going as went there in 70s. Some of the remaining prep schools are owned by Brighton College and Lancing College, so tend to feed them.

A friend went to Windlesham when I was a child and I’ve heard nice things about it. However, it’s 30 years since I was at school so my knowledge is very much second or third hand.

My Mum used to teach at Deepdene when it was a secondary school.

I work for Lancing College - Lancing Prep Hove has very limited spaces for 2022 but you could book a visit to have a look around. It is not specifically a feeder school for Lancing College, although a good number of Year 8s go there each year. It also feeds Brighton College and Hurst regularly, along with Bede's. There is also a Lancing Prep in the Broadwater area of Worthing.
