Applying to JAGS for Reception 2023

Hi All,

We wish to apply to Jags for Reception 2023, I understand we register our 3 year old DD in late Spring this year and she'll have an assessment in Autumn, if I'm understanding correctly.

Does anyone have any info on the 4+ assessment? Please no replies on the value of private vs state or if 4+ assessments are cruel and the usual preachy self-righteous , we are simply after non-judgemental info and the website has little info on it.

Many thanks! Smile

It was several years ago that my DD sat the assessment, so hopefully someone with more recent experience will offer some advice.

It difficult to prep for, if at all.
Read read read and talk talk talk with her.

She knew her basic shapes and could have a go at drawing them. Also could recognise and write her name but wasn’t able to form letters in the correct way, IYSWIM.
Would sit and listen to a story.
Count and recognise numbers - can’t remember to what level.

Main thing is that she went in happy and came out happy.
She loved her time at the pre-Prep.
Good luck!
