Hi. I'm thinking of training to be a teaching assistant but I'm unsure of which level course to complete, level 1,2 or 3? Any advice would be appreciated.

Level 3.

  1. No point doing anything lower in this area, might not be the same everywhere else though

Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Certificate or Diploma are the course you need to look at. You’ll have to be in placement at a school, either paid or voluntary, at least one day a week. Are you looking at online courses, as in distance learning?

Thanks for the advice, level 3 it is then. I'm thinking of doing it online.

Can PM you the name of a distance learning college (online) if you like. I’m biased as I work for them, though 😄

Level 3

TA is a brilliant but challenging and sometimes demeaning role.

Children are wonderful, parents can be hit and miss, as can the teacher you get to work with and the pay is appalling. That's the reality.

Perks are the holidays and also as I said before the children 💙

Go for it op if it's what you want to do.
