INDEPENDENT PREP SCHOOLS (SEVENOAKS)

Hi,

I was hoping someone out there could help me!

We are relocating to Sevenoaks next year.

Our ultimate goal is for our son to attend Sevenoaks school at secondary ideally, or one of the many Grammar schools in Kent.
My question is which independent prep school best prepares their pupils for these avenues?

What are peoples first hand thoughts on any of the following schools,
(1) New Beacon (worried about being pushed to go to Tonbridge school due to the recent merger)
(2) Sevenoaks Prep
(3) St Michael's Prep
(4) Solefield School

These are the 4 schools we are looking at, would love to hear all thoughts and experiences on these, the good and the bad!

Sevenoaks Prep have just had an ISI inspection and were rated excellent in all areas (the top rating). It's not a hot house school, it looks much more broadly at the whole child so if you child is suitable for Sevenoaks they will support that. They usually get 3-4 children into Sevenoaks in year 7 and 2-3 in year 9, but that changes by year. In 2020 they got a lot of children into Sevenoaks, last year, less so.

Very interested in this, as I just found Solefield and am considering moving us there just for this school. But is it too good to be true? Worried that we won't make friends in the area and that my only child will be lonely and that this might be exacerbated at smaller school! Anyone with any thoughts or comments? Would love to hear any and all? I'd resisted single sex and prep for a long time but then I just flipped it and thought ok which one would I choose if I could? (My husband has identified one in London and my son has an offer) But Solefield just looks great.

Just wondered if you have moved. As we are considering doing the same.
