Hi.
We are about to move to London due to hubby's work, and in search of a primary school for DD. Wondering what your thoughts are on the following schools:

  1. The Village Prep School
  2. St. Margret's School
  3. Hill House School (located in Hans Place)

DD is nine, and speaks English as a second language. So am mostly looking for a nurturing environment where she will be made to feel welcomed by her peers and teachers. Am concerned to send her to an all girls school as she's currently attending a mixed gender school.

Many thanks for your thoughts and inputs on this matter.Smile

There are lots of threads re Hill House on MN, 1 was very recent about where to live.
Re the other 2 schools you will need to add more information about where they are based as they are not well known.

Search on MN Hill House International School

Thank you so much for your feedback. Regarding the other two schools:
  1. The Village Prep School is located on Parkhill Rd, guess close to Belsize Park/Primrose Hill/Gospal Oak.
  1. St. Margaret's is in Hampstead, but I don't know anything about it....

Focus on the housing / commute first. The Hill House thread is good as shows the areas where parents live for the school.

Our timing is a bit bad (but not controlled by us) as we get into London 1st Apr., and schools are out on Easter break. So we want to have a list of schools first. Any school suggestions both state and independent in SJW/Hampstead/Swiss Cottage areas?

The Village Prep has excellent facilities and is a wonderful school. The teachers are very nurturing and really care about your daughter’s progress. The girls there are so happy and love learning. Definitely take a look round!

St Margaret's is lovely - both my DDs went there. it just got excellent ratings in an inspection report and is very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.

we went to see Village School when we moved to London (10 years ago) and were very unimpressed. But it may have changed.

if you want mixed, look at King Alfreds

Ten years ago? I think The Village has definitely changed in that time! It’s fantastic and I definitely recommend you take a look round to see for yourself. DD and her friends couldn’t be happier and are so lucky to be at such an amazing school.
