Reception homework

DD, 4, has just had her first homework book. They were given a few different options and she's taken to it with gusto.

The problem is that she won't let me help her with the literacy and so her written bits and pieces are all wrong.

What do I do? I don't want to dampen her enthusiasm, I'm not a gifted teacher anyway. But she's maybe not learning how to write if she's just guesstimating words

Or do I just leave it to her (fabulous) teacher to sort it out?

Defo leave her to it, it’s amazing what reception teachers can read!!! The enthusiasm is what matters at this stage!

A good guess, even if it’s wrong, actually shows a solid understanding of phonics. It’s not about perfect spelling at this age. It’s also great she’s so enthusiastic!

Just write a short note at the bottom letting the teacher know that she's been doing in completely independently, by choice Smile All mine have been the same at this age, I think it's lovely seeing how enthusiastic they are.

It's really great that she's so motivated. They learn from mistakes. Let them do it themselves.
I never corrected my dc's mistakes. That's what the homework is for, to learn, not to complete to adults expectations.

100% leave her to do it!! Her teachers will know which kids do it themselves and whose parents do it for them! She sounds so lovely and excited to learn.. that’s all her teacher will be looking for! We’ll done mumma x
