Lee Manor or Brindishe in Hither Green/Lee

I really want to send my 2yo to Lee Manor Primary School once she's old enough for Preschool, but the Ofsted report is not as good as for Brindishe School.

Does anyone have opinions on whether this is just a quirk of the inspection process, or know if Brindishe is, in fact, the better school? Does anyone have kids who go to either - what do you think? What does your school do well/poorly?

Dd is very bright (I would say that, wouldn't I?) but quite bossy (spirited? independent?), so we're keen to send her somewhere that has good, consistent behaviour management, praises good behaviour and provides plenty of stimulation for kids who are good with letters and numbers (the OfSted report says that Lee Manor isn't so good at this).

But I've also heard that OfSted reports aren't always a good indication anyway!

It's just all too confusing!! Heelllpppp.

hi -

I live in Blackheath so have some knowledge of this one. Brindishe is the one that gets all the league table glory and because of that you have to live very close to get in (a few hundred yards...)

but that doesn't mean it would necessarily be better for your dc - if you like Lee Manor then go for it (Ofsted reports not necessarily still right?)

One final thought is that whichever one you choose for pre-school, she will not be guaranteed a place in the school....

hth?

Thanks Gladders. Yes, it has. Anyone else got any thoughts?

Better go and visit. I dont know either of the schools but Lee Manor has a new head (since Sept 2007) who I personally rate highly so things may change there?

I went to visit Brindishe (and a friend's son goes there) and I must say it is one of the best schools in Lewisham and probably SE london. I didn't get an offer because we live outside catchment.

The school is very small, only taking 30 pupils tops with loads of people appealing.

Go and visit!

Hi My friend's child has just started at Lee Manor School and I was impressed with the new heads induction for new pupils starting at reception. i think her child went for 6 visits in the morning over a 6 week period and she stayed there and each time he was given a new book and I was very much impressed from what she told me also another friends child is starting there now so will update when get feedback. St. Winifred's Infant school also has a nursery and is a good school. Have never heard any parent not praise it ofsted for infant school is good. worth visiting. Have also got a friend at Brindishe and she is very happy with it. Looks like you may have 3 good school choices if you live locally. cairde
