Hello all parents! Interested in helping make our streets safer and healthier for children?
The University of Westminster has launched a research project called EX-TRA, which is studying School Streets in South London. These are schemes implemented by local councils, whereby the street outside a school is closed to traffic during drop-off and pick-up times, to provide more space for waiting, chatting, walking and cycling.
Many School Streets were introduced as temporary measures during 2020 to allow for social distancing outside schools. Now Councils are evaluating them to decide whether they should be made permanent.
We are working with Lambeth Council on this research and are looking to understand parents views on School Streets, and the quality and safety of streets in general within the Borough. Please fill in our online survey here: extralambeth.commonplace.is/
Anyone living or with a child living in South London can take part! We really hope to hear from you.
