Nursery/P1 in Scotland. Confused AF!

Wondering if anyone can help! I’m English but lived in Scotland the last couple of year & I’m ridiculously confused as to when my youngest starts his education!

His birthday is 25th July 2019. According to online he’s eligible to start nursery in the august term as he’ll be 3.
However when p1 starts the following year he would’ve only been 4 years old for a month so he wouldn’t be eligible.

So is he meant to stay in nursery an extra year? Or am I applying for nursery too early ?!

Bravo to anyone who understands my rambling! Help very much appreciated

Both mine had 2 years at nursery starting in the January term (October and November birthdays)

He’ll be 5 before he starts school, he’ll be in nursery for two years.

Cut off for P1 is turning 4 before the end of Feb, so the earliest they'd start school is 4.5 in August.
Jan/Feb birthdays often defer start until 5.5 (optional).
Sounds like your child will get 2 years in nursery and will start P1 at just over 5.
