My DSs are due to sit CAT4 tests in the next few weeks. The letter says not to practice, it's meant to be intuitive etc. I get that. Reading up on it though, it would appear that we'd be at a disadvantage if we didn't prepare. We've been using Atom sporadically since before Christmas but every time we sit down to do any work it's an argument. The only person stressing is me and I'm wondering if I should back off and just leave it to the day as the school suggest. Any advice appreciated. I'm in Scotland and it's for P6.

Atom learning is great for CAT4. I don’t know Scotland but in London the prep school kids do prepare for it as the score will state on their school reference for senior school applications.

If the score matters to you, prepare for it. If not, don’t bother.

What is the purpose of them sitting the tests? If it's just for internal school use, so the school has an idea of their reasoning skills, leave well alone. Inflating their scores might just mean that they are saddled with high target grades they struggle to live up to.

@lanthanum it's an entrance test for an independant school.

That's maybe a bit different, then.
