We’re relocating from overseas back to UK this summer and are looking to move to York, or a village between York and Leeds. I’m looking for a good primary for DD2 (Dd1 is in boarding school already so she’s sorted). DD2 is going into year 5, she’s been in a small international school here (class size around 20) following the English stream so UK curriculum. We’re told by her current school that she’s on their ‘more able’ list for all academic subjects so we’re looking for somewhere good for the last two years of primary that can stretch her a bit - does anyone have recommendations for good schools in the area? Or maybe more importantly- schools to avoid?!?

We’re not looking to anything ‘hot house’ or similar - I know she’s bright but I’m more concerned that she’s happy and engaged. She was born over here and has no real connections to the UK so is not looking forward to the move at all…

Private or state?

I've had a few friends with girls at Queen Mary's near Thirsk if you are looking at Private, but its been a few years since I've been in the area.
