My daughter is in year 3 and really struggles with spelling and she writes some numbers and letters backwards. She can read really well though. Is it possible to be dyslexic but to be able to read well, I’m dyslexic but have always really struggled with reading so I don’t know if I should just wait and see how she goes or contact the school. Her class has had 3 teachers already this year so I don’t think they wouldn’t of picked up on anything. Thankyou for you’re help

My DS was the same at that age, reading OK but struggling with writing. By age 12 he was really falling behind and lost all his confidence. The school were quite resistant at first but he was assessed as dyslexic, got extra help then came on in leaps and bounds. This was 2 decades ago so I would hope schools are more helpful now. It can be inherited so I would definitely speak to the school.

Look up hyperlexia, some children learn to sight read really well and mask their dyslexia but it shows in their spellings as they get older
