Experiences of Millfield Prep including SEN

Hi
We are considering moving to Millfield Prep with our 2 children - one of whom needs SEN support for ADHD & Dyslexia. Both sporty. Any advice and experiences of the school would be welcome particularly with regards SEN support.

Also, we will be relocating to the area and are researching options of where to live that are commutable day-to-day. Any advice on this would be welcome, I know the school run a bus but would be keen to drive kids myself. Is Bath too far?

Many thanks

I'm not sure about SEN provision but we chose a bath prep over Millfield because although mine loved sport they didn't seem 'sporty enough' It is about an hours drive on a good day from the centre of Bath, with smaller roads its often more. Any particular reason for Millfield rather than Bath schools?

Thanks for your reply. The reason for Millfield being the top choice is it is renowned for its SEN provision which is the main factor for us, so am keen to hear of any first hand experience of this. Which school in Bath are you? Good experience?

We opted for Paragon school, we have a DC with ASD and dyslexia and the support we have received is amazing. Our eldest went to St Margaret's Prep in Calne and their Sen provision was amazing. We only changed schools so I wasn't driving from one side of the world to the other for school runs!

Sorry but only just seen this. One of my DC was supported through SEN provision at senior school. My experience was wholly positive. Additional to good SEN provision, the senior school also seemed (and I only have my own subjective experience to go on) to be totally free of even the slightest hint of bullying due to SEN (being taken down a peg or two for arrogance was however very widespread!).
School was exceptionally responsive to DCs needs, and bent over backwards to adapt whenever DCs psychiatrist suggested adjustments. Can’t speak for the prep side but imagine the ethos will be the same.
Bath is quite a distance - how about Wells?

Cleo7000 · 09/02/2022 10:13

Thanks, really helpful to hear from somebody with personal experience. We are looking at Wells, are there particular towns/villages that are popular with Millfield parents? We are keen to establish ourselves in a community but not knowing the area very well have no knowledge of the areas day families tend to live in.

Hello @Cleo7000 just arrived here and curious to see whether you went for milfield in the end and what your experience has been? Plus if you did move to the area to you discover a nice place/community? We are in the same position with SEN needs and are planning on looking round milfield.
