Does anyone have a recent experience of Royal Masonic School?
How is the teaching and learning, pastoral care and extracurricular activities? How does it compare to St Helen's and Northwood College for Girls?

It is not as academic as St Helens but I hear very good things from parents about how well rounded it is. Apparently it pushes those more able and nurtures those not as academically inclined.

Grounds are lovely.

I have a few friends whose girls attend. They absolutely love it, says the girls have a wonderful time, the facilities, pastoral care, individual support is fantastic.
They would rate it above Northwood in terms of sports and extracurriculars, facilities and diversity in student body
However, it is not as academic as St Helens. HW and academic push is less, and results are mixed.
My daughter will be starting at the Sr School in September - my son goes to a highly academic school and we aren't massive fans of the constant push for grades, testing and hw, and lack of downtime/sheer fun - so went in a different direction. I get the feeling you would need to push the child a bit more to achieve grades versus the school doing that for you, however the children would be much happier at RMS.
The assistant head for sr girls is very friendly and helpful and you can book in an hour meeting to walk through everything about the school

Sorry to crash this thread but we're also considering RMS for our daughter. We visited it and really got a good 'feel' for it. However, we noticed a couple of male students walking around and didn't have a chance to talk to any of the teachers about it. @bness, can you tell me anything about their views on sex and gender? How many boys are there in the school? Any info you can give me is gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi

I'm not really sure - I know that 6th Form sometimes have joint classes with Merchant Taylor boys. Did they look like 6th form or younger?

I've found the office team really helpful, you can call head of admissions Mr Carter and he is quite helpful

Thanks @bness They did look like older boys so the explanation re MTs seems likely.
