Does it matter when you submit your school application?

DS going into reception next year. Does it matter when you submit your application for schools, as long as it's before the deadline? IE is there any difference if you submit it right when it opens vs a week before it shuts?

No.

No.

All that matters is that you submit before the deadline

No, but don’t miss the deadline!

OK, thanks!! Just submitted and was hoping it wasn't a case of all the spaces being full already

Doesn’t work like that, the spaces don’t fill up.
They assess the applications after the deadline as per the criteria and when you applied isn’t one of them

The schools have no idea when you submit. They get them all the same time.

The allocations are made per criteria not by date they were submitted.

We sort our own faith applications and we only check they were received in school by the correct date and that is the only date we look at.

Most local authorities have central admissions. Only schools that are able to do their own admissions make the decisions themselves. The best thing to do is read up on all of this on your LA web site: mine has full details on just about everything!
