DC has issues with anxiety.

Nurture groups have been suggested, but the school have not been very forthcoming with information about what this involves.

Please can anyone shed some light?

Hiya
Sorry this is late. I hope it helps anyway

im a nurture teacher in a secondary school (but the idea is the same in primary schools)

nurture groups are for children with
SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)

the children will normally go out for the morning, or a few hours maybe only one hour and take part in activities with a group of no more than 12 other students.

the session will normally consist of

  1. Welcome
  2. Circle Time
  3. Topic based input (Video, discussion, outdoor experience etc.)
  4. Related activity (Task, craft, cooking etc.)
  5. Snack Time (Preparation, social skills, new experiences etc.)
  6. Conclusion (Mindfulness, target setting/review, yoga etc.)

If you have any questions about nurture groups feel free to ask.

in hope this helps lovely xxx
