Prep School in Pinner- which one? Reddiford or Buckingham Boys?

I have an incredibly sensitive child who struggles in interacting with his peers. He gets quite anxious if he is told off or forced to do something he feels he's not capable of so needs kids gloves re: handling, guiding and supporting. He's able but needs a push to get where he needs to be. I feel he'll be lost in a state school. So we've narrowed down two schools in Pinner- Reddiford and Buckinghamshire Prep schools. Does anyone have any experience of either and recommend which one might be suited to my child? Son turns 4 in December and isn't enjoying currently nursery setting.

I've been to visit both schools and they have own strengths (distance, etc.) but we won't be able to afford a private secondary place without a scholarship so which school is better in getting their pupils into good secondaries on grants/scholarships? I know that's thinking too far ahead but I'm assuming once children get used to a private/prep school environment, they won't be able to handle a mainstream secondary environment?

Ps. I should add, we're having DC assessed for ASD. Both schools are aware of this. Which one would be better at meeting DCs needs if they were diagnosed as being on the ASD spectrum.

I hope this comment reaches you before you had to decide! My son is at buck prep pre school. Like yours, he is sensitive and disliked his nursery place. The staff in the pre school are just fantastic. The ratios are great- 10 kids, three staff members. They have so much time to dedicate to each boy. My boy loves it there - he used to refuse to go to nursery, but he skips into school and every day!

Hi OP sorry to resurrect this thread. What did you decide?

Hello there, I had no idea I had responses on here! Sorry for the late reply @recreationalcalpol!

We went for Bucks Prep in the end- I cannot tell you how relieved I am to have my child back! The staff and the other little boys in class have been absolutely wonderful and any worries I had disappeared when my little one came out of nursery that first day and told me he wanted to stay longer!

I'm assuming you're considering which school to send you son to @Thequeenhascovid. What are your current thoughts? The state schools in the area are fantastic- my parents friends are always singing their praises but I'm absolutely certain my child would be lost in those settings :/

That’s lovely to hear! Does your child have any other additional needs? We’re considering buck prep but not sure if they will cater well for a child who could potentially have extra needs
