Confused selecting between the above three for my DD. She is academic but also loves sports & extra curricular activities. All three are within a 15 mins drive. Does anyone have a child that goes to any of these schools? if so, what has been your experience?? Would be great to have your feedback.

I know people from Amersham who sent DDs to Godstowe in High Wycombe. Although they get many to top Independent schools at 13, (with scholarships) they do have 11 plus success too. It’s the best school for girls and way better than Heatherton.

Is The Gateway at Great Missenden full? It’s an 11 plus Crammer but if that’s what you want, you shouldn’t dismiss it. I personally think the primaries in Amersham are pretty good! Plenty of bright DC to work with who go to the grammars at 11. Why not stay put and get a tutor? Godstowe is a different type of school and it goes to 13 so has very many bright girls. Sport is taken seriously as is music, drama, art and personal development.

I disagree with the last post that godstowe is better than heatherton - they are just very different schools. What’s best for your child is very personal - my daughter is 20 months and we really felt heatherton was the right place for her in comparison to all of the local preps. But what’s right for my daughter isn’t necessarily what’s best for another child.

Depends whether you look at destinations, scholarships, sport, art, music and drama. Or whether you want very small with less of everything. The best is Godstowe and that’s indisputable. However it might not be best if you don’t value sport and all the other subjects taught by specialists. Especially if you are not looking for a high calibre senior school. Yes. It depends on the child but small private schools tend to limited in what they offer. My DD started at one when I thought nurturing was best. When she was bored, we moved her.

Personally I don’t see Heatherton as better than Elangeni or Chesham Bois primary. Definitely not better than Chestnut Lane or Little Chalfont. It’s more about who you meet than what you learn.

So when your daughter got bored did you move her to Godstowe?

Yes.
