I’m a little confused because some older threads suggest that Sutton High isn’t overly academic but looking at GCSE results 87% we’re 9-7 (which I understand to be A/A*). Surely this would make them a top 100 independent school (but they don’t seem to appear on the league tables I’ve looked at). I’m a little confused!

This is probably the results of 2020 or 2021. The exams were cancelled due to Covid. As a result, the grades have been hugely inflated. I suggest you take a look at the 2019 results as a reference.

Sutton High has a reputation locally of being definitely on the up. It is still obvioulsy below the top academic ones, like WHS or PHS, but is it undoubtedly an academic school.

For 2019 80% of grades were 9-7 which is very good (www.suttonhigh.gdst.net/news/30-from-stem-to-english-shs-girls-lead-the-way-in-gcse-results). They should appear in league tables like this but don’t: www.mytopschools.co.uk/best-gcse/

two thirds would make it more like 67%, not 80%

We are looking at Sutton high for year 7. They are in the top 150 schools league table for 2019 in the Sunday Times list I think. Definitely seems to be on the up and results improving each year but we are also wanting somewhere ‘we’ll rounded’ which it seems to be.
