Numeracy help needed

DS, yr 1, seems to be doing fine with reading, writing etc. I've noticed, and his teacher has confirmed this, that he's not particularly confident with numeracy. I think it's more a confidence thing than anything else so am trying to think of some fun ways to boost his knowledge of the basics. For example, he'll happily tell me which is an odd or even number, and can count in 5s, 10s etc, but sometimes won't remember what comes after 29!!

Are there any good websites with number games on them, or can anyone recommend a book or card game that might help.

Any ideas?

I use rainforestmaths.com - nice games for all levels at school. Also CBeebies used to have a lot of fun games.

Try www.mathszone.co.uk or www.primarygames.co.uk. The most important concept at this stage is counting and getting to know the number system we use. SImple gamaes you can play like 'Guess the NUmber' e.g. I'm thinking of a number it is between 1 and 20, the tens digits is a 1 and the units digit is a 5, it is 5 less than 20 but 5 more than 10 etc. AN extension of this is to get your child asking the questions to work out the number you are thinking of. Have a number line in front of you.
ANother game is when you are going up and down stairs do some counting - so if you start at the bottom of the stairs and say 'let's start at 25 and count up as we go up the stairs' and do the opposite for coming down
Questions like - what's the biggest number you know - can you draw how many that is?
Have lots of objects to count e.g. a bag of 1p coins, dried pasta in a jar etc.
COunting counting and more counting.
