Lockers Park, Aldwickbury or St Columbas?

We are living abroad and returning to Harpenden. D1 has been diagnosed with Dyspraxia and will need support. Have chatted to all 3 schools and all seem good in their own way. We will need to do Private as my son needs very small classes. Any thoughts on any of these schools? Could Lockers be too small?

Look at Egerton Rothesay too, they have a specialist Dyslexic unit and cater for Dyspraxia, integrated into the main school. Lockers Park is a lovely school for children who love the outdoors.

I guess the main benefit of St Columba’s is that it’s an all through school so you wouldn’t have the stress of the 11+ and whatever strategies they put in place to support him can follow through to secondary. On the negative side though they won’t prepare for 11+ or 13+ so if you decide to leave then it would be down to you.

I know several boys in the secondary school, two of whom need a little extra support and are thriving. The school is also turning coed which is something you should consider.

Lockers and Aldwickbury are both good schools. I would go on gut reaction.

Have you looked at Beechwood Park? Lovely school, amazing staff in learning support dept.

Thank you so much ladies. REALLY appreciate the quick feedback. I had looked at ER, but they only take students from 6 years old, but I will definitely bare that in mind should we have disasters at other schools.

Also, we have been accepted at Beechwood and have heard great things - we were just worried that it might be too strong on the academic front, so I had parked the idea, but great to hear about the SEN team, so will certainly relook it.

Thanks for the feedback on St Columbas, I hadn't thought further than junior school and very good point on the 11+.

Beechwood Park is a fantastic school, I have known the Head of Nursery in a professional capacity for many years. She is excellent.

Sorry to raise a zombie but which did you choose in the end and how is it going? Similar position - back from abroad, child with mild sen, looking at same schools, commuting from Berkhamsted.

We chose lockers park and it has been incredible. I cannot fault it. Amazing teachers, lovely boys and parents. And our son loves it there.

@Mumof3in15 thank you! Lockers Park is actually top of our list right now, so great to hear you’re happy with it!
