In-year school admission during summer

We have moved to a london borough just before summer holidays. Our in-year (Year 1) application was accepted by the council and by the nearest schools but they were all full. Our preferred school told us before the holidays that we are number 1 in the queue and they expect some movement during summer holidays. It's the end of august but we haven't heard from them since and I can't get through to the council or schools at the moment. Who was in the same position and is there any chance for our son to start Year 1 with the rest of the class if the place is available?

I would say if the councils etc aren’t responding because they’re away, then if someone has withdrawn their place, they won’t know it yet.

I have no idea when the schools are back, trying to find out really.

Round here schools officially start late next week but may have Inset days. You can probably chase after the Bank Holiday.

Have a look at the school’s website - they usually all have them on there. For a shortcut I often Google “x primary school term dates” and it always comes up.

Thank you, I was wondering whether the teachers/admin start a few days earlier than the official term start

If they have a place should be swift but nothing will happen until September. They may have to confirm that child x is not coming back (some move over the holidays but don't tell old school).
When we moved, had to go via fair access protocol but even then , she started about 8 days before half term.
