Hi

Does anyone have any recent experience of prep schools in these areas? I have a boy and a girl so looking at all options (coed and single sex). Would prefer something that’s good all round with high academic standards and decent facilities.

I don't live that area, but I assume the most popular choice is Cumnor House which feed into Trinity, Whitgift, Old Palace, RR, Epsom, Croydon High, etc.

Sure someone will come around with options and experience for you.

Good luck

Cumnor Girls is quite decent but Cumnor Boys less so if you look up recent threads.

For girls, Old Palace and Croydon High are good.
For boys, I would suggest Homefield (which is in Sutton), Dulwich Prep or Elmhurst.

Or you could move to Sanderstead which has several outstanding state primary schools Smile

What are the issues with Cumnor Boys? As I said, I don't live in the area, just aware they are massive feeder to the top SW London boys and walking distance within OP request. I also know a few former parents, so quite interested to know what the issues are.

The problem with a junior school like RR, Croydon High etc is that they won't prepare for 11+/13+ to other seniors. A number at dc senior came from St Davids.

With regards to Cumnor Boys, it is a horrible school. There was a thread here in July where over 15 parents shared their Cumnor House experience. It got so bad that Mumsnet took it down. Bottom line: You are better off to look at state school than Cumnor House for Boys.
