Hello wondering if anyone has any experience of St Mary Abbots school in kensington?
Do most children stay or do a majority leave to go to private school ?
If you were deciding between this school and a private school how do you make the decision !
Thank you In advance

It depends, obviously. And hard to comment without more information.

In general:
If you have a boy and are hoping to do 7 or 8+ with him - choosing state (this one or any other one, really) would make it hard for you and your child.
If you are hoping to do 11+ - plenty fo kids from this school do and get into great secondaries schools in the area.
If you are going state all the way - then it’s an easy choice.

Not many people leave at 7/8+. Many do for for selective secondaries at 11+.
Personally i think - if you have a girl and have an offer from one of the ‘academic’ preps in the area - your child will have an easier life and less need for tutoring to get into her secondary school.
If you have a boy and have an option to go to Wetherby - same as above.
If your choice is some of the less ‘academic’ preps or the mixed ones in the area - it’s a harder choice.

Kensington Mums, what are your views on st Mary abbots primary school? And Fox primary school…
I know they are two completely different schools.
which school would your prefer and why?

Hello, my daughter , just got offered a place at St Mary Abbots School. Moved to this area a few months ago. Would like to know if it is a very good school to attend for my daughter ?
Any feedback much appreciated
Thank you

hockeygrass · 12/08/2022 09:58

It's a highly desirable primary school, you may find dc leave each year to move to the private school sector.

Kensingtonmumm · 12/08/2022 11:01

I think it’s a very prestigious primary school, I have no faults to highlight it definitely is a very affluent bunch of people, Is your daughter going into recption?

Daliahelim · 12/08/2022 13:06

My daughter will be attending year 2. When you say affluent do you mean they type of parents or the environment at school i.e. teachers behavior and attention with students. Do they challenge the kids ? Do they provide the base to prepare for 11+ potentially?
Thank you so much for your feedback. I can't seem to find any update info about this school .

Daliahelim · 12/08/2022 13:11

Thank you . Go to private school in the local area? I'm thinking to apply for Notting Hill prep in year 6. Given the curricular they offer would she be prepared in the future to attend such school? Obviously we would do the necessary extra work at home with DC to help her achieve it.

Daliahelim · 12/08/2022 13:15

Do many DC leave to private school before they reach secondary school.

hockeygrass · 12/08/2022 13:20

@Daliahelim , we can't name families on MN but a previous U.K. prime minster sent his dc to this school, it's a very desirable primary full of affluent parents who can afford to live in Kensington / Notting Hill. They can also afford tutors and private school places when needed. The prime minister moved 1 of his dc to a private prep but kept another there and she moved to a state secondary.

Daliahelim · 12/08/2022 13:47

Yes aware of whom you referring to.

Kensingtonmumm · 01/11/2022 22:43

Hi I am looking for some honest reviews on st Mary abbots school, Kensington high street…

Daliahelim · 02/11/2022 07:52

Seems a bit strange for you to ask that question given that you replied to my post recently answering this exact question. A bit confused.

Kensingtonmumm · 03/11/2022 00:16

I wanted to see if there was any views or issues that I may not be aware of

kensingtondad · 23/01/2023 13:00

Hello...Hope you got some information to help you make the right decision. I moved to the area recently. I applied to take my daughter to this school year2. I'm writing to ask if you would be kind enough to share your research findings in general about this school. Thank you

kensingtondad · 23/01/2023 13:06

Hello Daliahelim. I also moved to this area recently and i'm thinking to take my daughter to year2 in this year. How do you and your daughter liking this school thus far? Appreciate thoughts and experience on this school. Thank you

Daliahelim · 23/01/2023 21:24

Hello!!
my daughter attended the school for 1 month only as we received another offer from a local private school where we were awaiting a response from for a while. Sorry can’t give you much feedback on it.

kensingtondad · 26/01/2023 14:03

@Daliahelim , thank you for your reply. How was your 1 month experience in this school? I hope you and your daughter liking your new private school. BTW, my daughter is also in year2. Thank you again.
