Have heard some schools are closed/ closing early/earlier for the 6 week holiday due to covid cases. Ours isn't - is yours?

I think there would have to be a lot of cases. Presumably only where PHE have deemed there to be an outbreak? No reason to close early otherwise.

ILoveAnOwl · 14/07/2021 06:24

My son's school is offering remote learning for the final week. So they are open if you want to send the kids in, but you have the option to work from home.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/07/2021 06:30

Ours finish Friday anyway. Currently no cases in the school.

HSHorror · 14/07/2021 07:33

We have an outbreak so far 5 cases in 3 year groups.

0None0 · 14/07/2021 07:34

Yes, we are closed

Whinge · 14/07/2021 07:36

It's not something i've heard is happening in the local schools. My school is expecting lower numbers in the last week, but we will remain open until the last day of term no matter how many pupils attend.

laselvar · 14/07/2021 07:37

Not yet, but currently have 13 staff isolating in my primary school (positive cases among staff, staff have family members who are positive and a few classes isolating because of positive cases meaning staff having to isolate as well!).
We are literally losing staff every day, not sure how much longer we can safely staff the school.

SpringRainbow · 14/07/2021 07:56

No, all year groups still in at the moment. Not even heard of any local schools closing either, that’s including senior schools.

Before Christmas it was horrific with schools falling like dominoes.

This time so far so good.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/07/2021 10:26

Nope. Finishing next Tuesday as planned (Wed is an inset). We've got our first cases (1 TA, 3x children; all the same class) in school though so some of the Y6's (mixed y5/6 class) unknowingly had their last ever day on Monday Sad

CoffeeWithCheese · 14/07/2021 11:27

Nope - we have a week and a half left around here.

Bobholll · 14/07/2021 11:44

Nope, we finish on 23rd. Some classes are isolating but will be back in for the end of term.

idontlikealdi · 14/07/2021 12:51

No, no cases.

However dhs secondary looks like it will, it's only three year old so you to y9 cohort. All of y7 are isolating and most of year 9.

Hersetta427 · 14/07/2021 13:47

term finishes for both on mine tomorrow. The one at secondary has been learning at home since Friday of last week. Primary school one survived so far !

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/07/2021 13:48

No, closing on Friday as normal.

Ifitquacks · 14/07/2021 21:01

We have finished for the summer anyway now (finished last Friday) but we hadn’t had a case since last November.

4PawsGood · 14/07/2021 21:03

We finished four days early, with no notice, in Scotland.

AlmostSummer21 · 14/07/2021 21:07

We have already finished for the summer (independent)

Friend is admin at senior school locally and the teachers, admin/others & kids are isolating in ever increasing numbers. They're having to double up classes which they aren't meant to and basically any adult body with DBS is being shoved into a class room to supervise not teach. They're limping sling until the end if term on Tuesday. It's not good!

spanieleyes · 15/07/2021 18:17

We had a class close yesterday and another today, at this rate there will be no one left!

gabster33 · 15/07/2021 20:29

Local secondary has, daughters secondary has closed her year group. Both my other two children has cases in their primary class. One is hoping to get back before the end of the term. The secondary and youngest are home learning for 10 days. However the oldest has been asked to isolate with no contact which is somewhat ridiculous- people who've sat on a crowded plane with 200 strangers don't have to isolate for so long!

rainbowiris · 15/07/2021 20:41

My year 9 kid is already isolating and won't be allowed back before the end of term, my year 8's school have said they have only got 39% of students attending and loads off staff off due to isolations/+cases so are offering home learning as an option for the final week next week, and the primary school I teach at may have to close tomorrow due to the head being ill and awaiting PCR results, which would take the SLT out and mean we're unable to open. Loads of parents have mentioned taking their children out next week anyway, cases are really high round here at the moment 😕
