Europa School in Culham - Catchment Area

Hi All,

We're looking to buy a house and we would like to be in the catchment area of the Europa School.
The two main problems are:

1. There are no houses on sale in Culham
2. The school is surrounded by fields, so the next village is further away than 1 mile radius

Where would be best to live to have at least a small chance to get a place in Reception? Sutton Courtenay or Abingdon?

Europa uses 3 nodal points for admissions, which you'll want to check in their policy.

Yes, I know that and I have already checked. The first one is the reception of the school and last year the last place was offered 1.3 miles away from that.
At that distance there's not much, just the outskirts of Abingdon or Sutton Courtenay.
The other two nodal points are the centre of Oxford and Wantage, which are not an option for us (the first one is way too expensive, the second one is too far from the school in our opinion and tricky for us to go to work from). Also, the 50% of places go to kids near the first nodal point.

Out of curiosity why do you want your kid to go to Europa school? I am curious since as a linguist I find their model fundamentally flawed. It also seems to me they use a lot of contributions from primary school to fund secondary, which it seems a large proportion of pupils leave at 15. I’ve lived in Oxford for over ten years and conducted research on this school for my own kids amongst a sizeable sample of past students and parents who have children there. Also there seems to be serious issues with bullying at this school.
