Hey Mommies, we are relocating to London and DS has been offered year 2 place at Dulwich Prep and Bickley Park. He's a smart and happy kid and I want him to join a school which helps in all round development. Any feedback would be life saving..

Go for Dulwich simply to avoid the 11+.

ComfusedMama · 03/07/2021 12:29

Sooty - I thought if you go to Dulwich it was better for the College

Coronateachingagain · 03/07/2021 13:42

*Sorry!

ComfusedMama · 03/07/2021 14:35

Nothing like that...he'll still have to sit for 11+/13+

I have two friends with sons at Dulwich Prep who are very happy with it. There is lots of sport, music, drama, art and the facilities are terrific.

It helps to be sporty at Dulwich Prep so if he's not that way inclined that might be something to consider when weighing up the two options.

Thanks @SouthLondonMommy, he's into sports so that should be fine.

just depends where you want for senior school? a lot of DPL boys do go on to DC while Bickley is more Sevenoaks/Tonbridge focused?

both are traditional boys prep schools so both are pretty sporty and have great facilities. which one is an easier commute?

what's your deadline for a decision?

ChnandlerBong · 08/07/2021 18:31

actually do you mean DPL or Dulwich College prep in Cranbrook?

Vicmam · 08/07/2021 23:42

Hello,
What are people's thoughts on Dulwich prep Cranbrook Vs Marlborough House? What sort of child would each one suit? Thank you!

@ChnandlerBong...we'll be renting in the beginning..so will rent nearby whichever school we decide. Need to decide in next 4 days

@ChnandlerBong we haven't decided on senior school..want a school that helps him identify his strengths and then accordingly we'll decide the senior school. We loved the facilities in Dulwich, Bickley seems more closely knit school. Hence the confusion. Also dulwich is expensive area to live in.

Bickley is a bit further out from central London so guess a slightly more country feel?

Know boys who’ve been happy in both schools.

If I were picking based on where I’d want to live I’d go Dulwich personally? Just buzzer and better connected transport wise

@ChnandlerBong thanks....Good points to think on
